Happy Birthday Katie!

As you readers out there may know (or will soon learn), we here at Algonquin love birthdays. It’s a chance to break out the cake, dust off our vocal pipes, and most importantly, celebrate ourselves.

Today is the birthday of our fabulous assistant marketing manager, Katie Ford. In her honor, we thought we’d list 10 reasons why she’s a unique snowflake.

1. She ran a marathon.

2. She can knit things, like this.

3. On that same knitting note: Once, when it was so cold in her old apartment in NYC, instead of getting up to turn on the heat, she knitted herself a hat.

4. Sometimes, she brings us homemade lemon squares.

5. She rescued a stray dog from a gas station, named him Tennessee, and brought him home.

6. She has a pet crawdad in a fifty-gallon aquarium.

7. She drinks coffee from a straw.

8. She was one of only twenty-five students from out of state to receive a scholarship to UNC Chapel Hill.

9. She always slouches in her chair after 2:00pm.

10. Her sister appeared as a child in television commercials.
