Twitter Book Club – A Reliable Wife!

Too dang cold to go to book group?

Fountain Bookstore in Richmond, VA, is hosting its first-ever Twitter Book Club tonight at 6 p.m. Everyone can participate, no matter where you live! You won’t have to leave the house–or even change out of your pajamas–to join a lively discussion about the current #1 New York Times bestseller, A Reliable Wife.

Kelly (@RVABookChik), owner of Fountain (@FountainBkstore), will be the facilitator. The hashtag is #fountainreads.

Log into your Twitter account on February 1 at 6:00p.m. to participate.

If you don’t have a Twitter account, its easy (and free) to set one up:

  • Create a Twitter account if you don’t already have one.
  • Go to www.tweetchat.com, sign in with your Twitter username and password
  • Enter fountainreads into the hashtag search box

That’s it!  For more info, check out The Book Ladys Blog, who is partnering with Fountain Bookstore. You can also enter there to win a free copy of the book!

New in Paperback!

Many hands making light work!

A Reliable WifeFriday morning, the entire Algonquin staff in Chapel Hill worked together to get 350 packages of A Reliable Wife (and a fleece blanket to read it under) out to bookstores and booksellers across the country. We wanted to make sure they had a chance to read the book in paperback before it goes on sale on January 5.

The Algonquin elves stacked, taped, stamped and tied every package–and we got them out the door before Friday’s storm hit!

Winter-inspired Book Booty Giveaway!

A Reliable WifeTo celebrate the cold weather and a seasonal excuse to curl up on the couch with a warm beverage and an engrossing novel for hours (and the upcoming big release of the paperback version of A Reliable Wife), we are announcing a new blog giveaway!

In this suspense-driven novel, Ralph Truitt placed a notice in a Chicago paper, an advertisement for a “reliable wife.” She responded, saying that she was “a simple, honest woman.” She was, of course, anything but honest, and the only simple thing about her was her single-minded determination to marry Ralph and then kill him, leaving herself a wealthy widow. Ralph Truitt may regret not being more specific in his advertisement.

Introducing the Algonquin Snuggie

A Reliable WifeOn a cold winter night, there really isn’t anything better than a fire roaring in the fireplace, a sleeved blanket (so your arms don’t get cold when you turn the pages), and a copy of Robert Goolrick’s A Reliable Wife. So, to launch the paperback edition of this ”chillingly good” novel, we decided to create embroidered Algonquin Snuggies for our sales force. Needless to say, they were a big hit!
